RESEARCH:

ZINE:

Zine is is a small-circulation self-made work of original or appropriated texts and images, usually reproduced by means of photocopiers. Zines are the product of either a single person or of a very small group, and are popularly photocopied into physical prints for circulation.

  • Zines are non commercial which means people do not get any profit by making zines.
  • Zines are a great way to communicate with people and within groups.
  • Zines are printed in small numbers as zines works as a secret messenger and because of this only people within the group get access to the zines.

HISTORY:

Zines were first created in the science fiction fandoms of the 1930s, taking their name from fanzine, which is short for “fan magazine.” Long before the advent of the Internet, zines allowed fans to create networks, share ideas and analyses, and collaborate on writing and artwork.

The counterculture movements associated with the Beat generation of the 1950s and 1960s saw a growth of the underground press, which played an important role in connecting the people across the US. Although the underground press often involved significantly more people and resources in the production of materials, it provided a function that became a key part of zine culture in the 1980s and beyond: giving people a voice outside the scope of the mainstream media.

ZINES STYLES:

CUT AND PASTE:

This style of zine is used where the information is extracted from different sources such as from newspaper and magazines and then all the information from other sources will be combined together on a master zine to get copied later. This style is called cut and paste because you can cut images or information related to the message from any newspaper or magazines and paste all the work together to create a zine.

COMICS ZINES:

Comics are a type of zine in which the message is in the form of hand drawn images or illustrations to deliver certain message to the people.

DIGITAL ZINES:

Digital zines are made on computers, as compared to other types of zines, this zine style is more cleaner and clear as it is made on computer and you have more options to work within and there are so many possibilities allowed through the use of digital computers.

PUNK MOVEMENT / SUBCULTURE:

Punk is made up of an assortment of smaller subcultures, including anarcho-punk, crust punk, and horror punk, which distinguish themselves through unique articulations of punk culture. Several subcultures have developed out of punk to become distinct in their own right, such as goth psycho-billy, and emo.

PUNK ZINE:

punk zine is connected to punk subculture in terms of punk music genre. They feature information about punk literature, news, gossips, social commentary and music reviews about punk rock bands. One of the earliest punk zines was Punk, founded in New York City by John Holmstrom, Ged Dunn and legs McNeil. An early punk zine in United Kingdom was Sniffin’ Glue, produced by Mark Perry.

Riot Grrrl zines:

Riot Grrrl zines movement emerged from the punk scene in United States when the women began to start making zines related to feminism themes. The “riot grrrl” wave was influential for pinkzines as it called for females to publish and produce content in the male dominated culture. Self-published punkzines from this era such as Bikini Kill, Girl Germs, and Jigsaw were put out by members of riot grrrl bands who supported the notion of women learning to play music and feeling self-empowered. Other apparent themes in this category of zine include activism, social change, sexuality, body image, and the discussion of controversial topics such as racism and abuse.

SKILLS DEVELOPMENT:

LAYER MASKING USING PHOTOSHOP:

We have been introduced by Gary how it is easy and fast to do layer mask using Cintiq tablet and pen.

  • I have used a royalty image of a landscape and kept that layer as my background layer.
  • I used a image of cheetah and created a layer mask by selecting reveal all option.
  • By using the tablet with pen it was more easy and faster to edit the other image using the brush tool.

FINAL RESULT:

INTERACTIVE PAGES/ HYPERLINKS:

A hyperlink is a word, phrase, or image that you can click on to jump to a new document or a new section within the current document. Hyperlinks are found in nearly all Web pages, allowing users to click their way from page to page. When you move the cursor over a hyperlink, whether it is text or an image, the arrow should change to a small hand pointing at the link. When you click it, a new page or place on the current page will open.

CREATING HYPERLINK IN PHOTOSHOP:

  • Use legit free image source from unsplash or pixabey for high-quality resolution.
  • Use an image with a focal interest.
  • Open the selected image in Photoshop and change the image size to a maximum of 2000 resolution using pixels.
  • Select slice tool and make a box around the face or focal point of the image.
  • As you will make a box, Photoshop will slice the image into different slices/boxes with different numbers on each box.
  • Click on the little box of the number it will open a box having different sections, add the link related to the image copy and paste that full web link address in the URL section, write  a space =_”blank” in the target section and press ok.
  • Export the image as save for web legacy use HTML and images format to save.
  • The file will save as both HTML and JPEG image.

FINAL HTML PAGE:

Final HTML page linking to the different sections of the website.

FILE TYPES:

VECTOR= .AI : for representing single-page vector-based drawings in either the EPS or PDF formats. The .ai filename extension is used by Adobe Illustrator.

.SVG: SVG file format is used for two-dimensional graphics with support for interactivity and animation.

HYBRID:

PSD:  .PSD file is a layered image file used in Adobe PhotoShop. PSD, which stands for Photoshop Document, is the default format that Photoshop uses for saving data.

PDF: PDF (Portable Document Format) is a file format that has captured all the elements of a printed document as an electronic image that you can view, navigate, print, or forward to someone else.

BITMAP:

JPEG: JPEG is a commonly used method of lossy compression for digital images, particularly for those images produced by digital photography. BMP: The BMP format is a commonly used raster graphic format for saving image files. The BMP format stores color data for each pixel in the image without any compression.

TGA: TGA refers to a raster graphics file format created by Truevision Inc. TGA had been used as the native format for TARGA and VISTA graphic cards for IBM PC’s to support Truecolour display. TGA files are common in animation and video industry.

TIF: TIF is an image format file for high-quality graphics. TIF files are also called .TIFF, which stands for “Tagged Image Format File.”

PNG: A PNG file is an image file stored in the Portable Network Graphic (PNG) format.

GIF: GIF, or Graphic Interchange Format, is a file extension for an often animated raster graphics file

TOPICS FOR ZINES:

  • Will the development of Artificial intelligence harm or benefit humankind?
  • Artificial intelligence is dangerous
  • Is technology going to save the world, or kill it?
  • The sale of fur should be banned
  • Zoos should be banned
  • Should abortion be legal?
  • Should animals be used for scientific or commercial testing?
  • Are cell phones safe?
  • Do violent video games contribute to youth violence?
  • Should animals rule the world?
  • Should plastic bags be banned?
  • Long distance relationships does not work
  • Drug addiction is a choice

THOUGHTS ON TOPICS?

  • I feel all the topics that I have researched about are important and need to be taken further.
  • From all the topics above, i would say that the majority of topics is related to animals and I personally wanted to choose a sensitive and emotional topic and I think talking about animals right is one of it.
  • From all the different topics related to animals, I quite got my interest in the topic ‘zoos should be banned’. I think there is a lot to talk and argue about in this topic.
  • As according to the brief, we have to design a digital zine and also I have to think about a topic which I will also develop and illustrate digitally and by choosing this topic I will be able to experiment and design zines using animals images and illustrations.

FURTHER RESEARCH:

CAPTIVE ANIMALS:

Zoos in the world hold a large quantity of animals captive. Many are suffering in silence, their misery unseen despite the thousands of people who peer in at them everyday. Animals are kept captive in the jails called “zoo” where they have been provided with a minor number of facilities to keep them alive and to make profit out of poor animals by portraying them as a joker or puppet to the people only for their entertainment.

ARTIFICIAL ENVIRONMENT:

Zoos cannot begin to provide the amount of space animals have in the wild. Tigers and lions have around 18,000 times less space in zoos than they would in the wild.  It is not unusual to see jungles, deserts or icebergs painted onto the walls of enclosures that hold wild animals. These attempts to make the enclosures look natural are for the public’s benefits only. The animals are not fooled, they know they are not in the wild because zoos cant provide the animals with their natural habitat or environment where they actually belong.

KILLING HEALTHY ANIMALS:

Healthy animals in zoos are intentionally killed when they are no longer wanted.  Zoos refuse to inform the public how many animals are killed in zoos. Estimates suggest ten thousand large mammals are killed each year in European Zoos alone, and there are no count to the other animals dying in the zoos.

CAPTIVITY FOR ENTERTAINMENT:

Zoos are increasingly looking for more ways to make money. Many zoos holds events and festivals which often features live music ,alcohol and even fireworks. Animals used in movies and TV are being forced to behave unnaturally for our amusement. Many viewers are unaware of the conditions behind the scenes. During the climactic chariot race in Ben-Hur, for example, nearly 100 horses were killed. Incidents such as this provoked the involvement of overseers such as the American Humane Association and the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. Nowadays we often see the statement: “No animals were harmed in the production of this show”. Yet there have been cases where animals have been harmed and even killed just for the purpose to earn money by providing enough entertainment material to human beings.

PRISON FOR ANIMALS:

Zoos are basically just prisons that leave animals with no ways to defend themselves or escape dangerous situations. Animals in zoos all over the U.S. have been poisoned, been starved, been denied veterinary care, and even been burned in fires. Other animals have died after eating trash that was thrown into their cages, and some animals have even been beaten or killed by people who stole them from their profits.

SUFFERING FROM DEPRESSION:

Animals suffer in zoos. They get depressed, psychologically disturbed, frustrated, they harm each other, become ill, go hungry, and are forced to endure extreme and unnatural temperatures. The animals in the zoo’s cannot live as they would wish to live and they can get extremely stressed by screaming visitors. They are subjected to camera flashes and the hordes of hundreds of people who spend each day in front of their cages to watch but learn nothing. We need to understand that If we care about animals we don’t have to visit the zoo’s and also educate our kids and young generation to show true respect for animals.

ANIMALS AS SLAVES:

Animals in zoos are denied the opportunity to fulfil even their most basic instincts. Every single decision, including when to eat, what to eat, who to mate with, and when to sleep, is made for them. Some are forced to perform tricks day after day, which is probably one of the reasons for their stress and depression. We can not even imagine someone being bossy to us and if we have to act as slaves to a person, we might go mad and highly depressed and I feel it is the same situation for animals when they have to work and accept the orders as slaves in the zoo’s.

REFLECTION ON RESEARCH :

  • I feel by researching all I have found out is animals are in pain and stress which is absolutely horrible and as a human being we are supposed to take some action against this cruelty.
  • The research provides me with more in depth knowledge and understanding about the problems that animals are facing in the zoos.
  • Their is variety of important points that I might use in my zine which I feel have to be shown to the audience to get a little more idea of how animals feel in zoo’s.

Brief analysis:

  • The brief for this module (AR4709) is to design a digital/analogue zine by using the acquired skills and techniques needed to create the zine.
  • The outcome of this project will be a digital zine by learning the skills and tools needed to produce digital zine.

TARGET AUDIENCE:

For this topic, I think the target audience is quite tricky because if you see as a human being, the target audience is everyone but at the same time according to the brief and how zines used to work, they were supposed to target a specific audience that is connected to the topic somehow.

I would say, the right target audience for this topic are the Animal welfare societies authorities and animals campaigns managements to take a bold and strong step together to stop this cruelty happening with animals.

FURTHER RESEARCH INTO TARGET AUDIENCE:

The Humane Society of the United States (HSUS)

https://www.humanesociety.org/

The Humane Society of the United States (HSUS) is an American nonprofit organization that focuses on animal welfare and opposes animal-related cruelties of national scope. It uses strategies that are beyond the abilities of local organizations. It works on issues including companion animals, wildlife cruelty, farm animals, horses and other equines, and animals used in research, testing and education.

ANALYSIS:

The imagery used on their website is not as harsh and brutal as It was supposed to be because the organisation have to think about their audiences, they are still showing there animals in pain and cages but they are using cute imagery which is balancing the cruelty side in the imagery with the cuteness of the animals. People are getting an idea of animals cruelty but not as hard and heart breaking as this topic actually have to be.

Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (RSPCA):

https://www.rspca.org.uk/

The Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (RSPCA) is a charity operating in England England and Wales that promotes animal welfare. In 2017, the RSPCA investigated 141,760 cruelty complaints and secured 1,492 convictions. The charity also rescued and collected 114,584 animals, carried out 222,664 micro chippings and re-homed 44,611 animals. Founded in 1824, it is the oldest and largest animal welfare organisation in the world and is one of the largest charities in the UK. The organisation also does international outreach work across Europe, Africa and Asia.

ANALYSIS:

The imagery used on their website is not harsh and hard hitting as it is supposed to be in terms of showing the cruelty happening with animals. The reason for that is they don’t want their audiences to not look at the images and content as mostly people are sensitive about animals and probably don’t want to look at animals in a bad and brutal way.

FREEDOM FOR ANIMALS:

https://www.freedomforanimals.org.uk/

Freedom for Animals (FFA) is the working name of the Captive Animals’ Protection Society, a charity registered in England campaigning to end the use of animals in entertainment, such as circuses, zoos the exotic pet trade and the audio-visual industry and is one of the UK’s longest-running charities working to protect animals.

ANALYSIS:

Their main mission is to end the captivity of animals, especially those used for entertaining the public in zoos, circuses and the media industry which is mainly the same mission and topic that I have chosen to work on. The visual imagery they are using on their website is quite hard hitting and cruel as I feel that this organisation is actually based on this purpose of giving freedom to animals from captivity and they want their audience to feel the actual cruelty and brutality that animals are going through in real.

EVALUATION ON TARGET AUDIENCE:

  • I feel by doing further research into the target audience, I know exactly which organisations are the main target for my zine project.
  • By researching in depth for the specific organisations which deals with the animals cruelty and their freedom, provided me a clear understanding of what they are and how they are engaging their audiences to their content on their websites (hard-hitting, easy, soft, cruel or brutal).
  • I have analysed by looking at their websites that most of the organisations are using soft imagery to show to the people but “Freedom for Animals” is only organisation I feel which is showing real condition of animals facing cruelty and brutality in the visual images.

MISSION STATEMENT:

  • My mission through this through project will be to create awareness, humanity and awake animals welfare authorities and societies who have got control in their hands to ban the zoos.
  • I feel that I have chosen a valid and important topic to create zine on because I think authorities should do something and take step on this serious issue.
  • I want to give the message to think yourself for a minute in the same situation as we see and use animals for entertainment purposes.
  • Only for people 2 minutes entertainment, the animals lives in cages, far from their home where they should belong and live their life in freedom as we all are living.
  • I want the zine to show how animals live happily in their home (jungle) and suddenly when people take them to zoos, far from their belongings, family and friends what they feel.
  • I also want my audience to feel the same situation as we see animals for entertainment, what if they see us outside the cages and we are being captive inside the cages in zoos?
  • I will try my best to make my zine as emotional and sensitive as I can to target the audience and give a message to ban the zoos and make them to take some action against this inhumanity.

LAYOUT PLANNING FOR A ZINE:

  • As I am still working on the ideas and how to portray them in most effective way as possible.
  • A zine will show the audience two different perspectives, in the beginning I want to show a good and happy side and then drag slowly to the main topic of my zine.

IDEAS :

REFLECTION ON IDEAS:

  • The drawings above are showing a rough story line that I am thinking to use as a context of the zine.
  • As I want the main message to be shown to the audience at the last and to achieve that I might use my story line where I have sketched a happy jungle environment showing all the animals together having fun and happy and slowly subtracted animals from the main picture of the jungle, I think this will make the audience/ viewer curious to know why this is happening.
  • In the last pages I will try to portray the main message which is to ban the zoos, by portraying some illustrations of animals being kept in cages and how humans are using them for their entertainment.
  • The start of the zine will make the audience happy to see animals together in their homes enjoying together but then the disappearance of the animals one by one will make them curious and then in the last they will know the reason which is that they have been taken to the zoos, far from their homes and friends and kept captive only for people’s entertainment.
  • I have not still decided if this will be the final idea to get develop for a zine as I am still working on the ideas generation and thoughts on how to portray the message as emotional and cruel as possible.

ZINE LAYOUT EXPERIMENTATION:

  • After finalising the concept for the zine, it was the right time to think about the layout styles and types that I will be using to convey the message in an innovative and unique way.
  • I experimented cutting paper in all different ways to explore great paper layout design.
  • I also experimented using pop up style to uncover the animals inside the page when being turned and I quite like that 3d effect that the pop up design gave to that specific page.
  • I experimented all different ways of cutting paper in unique styles and tried to connect different paper cuttings together to get mixed paper folding styles rather than using the same paper folding technique for the whole zine.

1st version:

SELF REFLECTION:

  • I would say that rather than researching online on the paper folding techniques and layout design, it is beneficial to try out the paper folding techniques in physical because through this you can get a better idea and presentation of the context.
  • Trying different paper folding techniques in physical gives me a clear and better idea of how each style will actually look in real and how it will make people feel in terms of turning and moving different sections of the zine.
  • I think I quite like the last paper layout style and folding technique using pop-ups and sliding strips at different sections of the zine to reveal the next page is interesting.
  • Each animal in a cage created by using black paper strips on the page will make the audience feel the same pain but in a closer view.
  • In the last page as I wanted the humans to be in the cage, I experimented a clever technique of making a cage in a specific area and drawn humans and animals on a new paper placed inside the cage first showing the animals in the cage. I placed a strip showing SLIDE written, when the viewer will slide the strip, the paper will move to the right, putting the humans inside the cage and the animals outside the cage.

2nd version:

SELF REFLECTION:

  • In the second version, I have replaced the jungle drawings with real plants to compare both the versions.
  • I have also used typography on the leaves to experiment variety of different ways.
  • I feel this version looks good, but it is quite difficult to adjust the real plants and place animals in between them.
  • I have experimented using plants on few pages and I feel it was hard to adjust the positions of leaves and keep the background same on each page as the jungle background is included in majority of the book pages.

CHANGES ADDED:

  • I quite like the feel of real plants but as it was quite hard to use as mentioned above, I created paper grass which I have used as the background for all the pages which includes jungle, which I feel real and also flexible to adjust.
  • I added two new pages showing more detailed context of the story including a bus passing by and taking the animals and a hand from the corner grabbing the lion as well.
  • I decided not to use typography to show the names and what animals are thinking as I feel I have created the story concisely which does not need written words to understand the narrative. Rather using typography, I added question marks and dotted outlines of the animals in their places for the audience to spot the disappearance.

FURTHER EXPERIMENTS:

FINAL VERSION:

SELF REFLECTION:

  • This version is highlighting and putting everything together which was supposed to be included in the book to deliver the clear and in-depth story to the audience.
  • All the changes that I felt at the previews stage have been included into this version such as paper grass, addition of pages showing the zoo bus and a hand grabbing the lion to add more clarity in the story.
  • I have used a light cream colour thick paper as the background as I wanted to show the greenery and colours in the beginning and black and white version later in the zine because of these reasons, I wanted to use a colour that will make all different colours on that background as colours plays an important role to make people feel the way you want them to feel by selecting appropriate colour psychology which I feel I have used to show the bright colour palette replaced later on with black and white colours.
  • The way I have created the zine is interesting and fun to explore the whole story by including various paper folding techniques and guided strips to see the next part of the story.
  • In the end as I wanted to show an opposite prospective but in a unique and engaging way, I have created a slide strip to see the story from a different point of view making the animals move from the cages and moving the humans in the cages revealing the message hidden under the sheet of paper.
  • By adding interesting paper folding and revealing techniques, I feel it will keep the viewer interested in the zine and to reveal a sad reality to the audience in an interesting and distinctive way.
  • I feel I have tried my best to create the physical version of the zine that is appealing and engaging the viewer to understand the story.
  • I have possibly experimented all the different techniques and skills to explore and select which things works good and which does not.
  • I wanted to deliver the message of my zine through a narrative and I am glad that I my final zine is based on a narrative as I wanted to reveal the main message in the end.

Peer reviews: (Physical version)

Comments:

  • Interesting interactive features and fun to read.
  • The whole layout of the zine is eye catching and engaging throughout.
  • Good use of imagery in terms of showing two different perspectives (happy and sad) versions of animals.
  • Maybe use more text/info.
  • Your physical zine is well planned and put together while remaining cute, rustic and interactive.
  • You have kept a childish art style while projecting a serious message to your audience.

Response/Improvement:

I am glad from all the different feedback I have received on the physical version of my zine. The feedback was quite helpful in terms of getting my work reviewed by others but not only myself. Someone suggested to use more text or info, but as mentioned in the changes made before the final version, I do not wanted to use any text as I wanted the story to guide the audience from the starting to the end and I feel there are guide strips on some pages where the audience have to slide and pull the strip to see the next part of the zine and also the disappearance of the animals can be spot easily by the use if empty space and dotted outline of animals.

DIGITAL VERSION (DEVELOPMENT):

According to the brief and the module nature which is ‘Digital Environment’. The final piece must be digital. I decided to use the same storyline to create the digital version.

Creating animals’ illustration using Adobe Photoshop:

  • I have used Adobe Photoshop to create both versions (happy and sad) of animals to use for the physical version and created transparent background versions of all the animals to create digital version.

Creating Animation using Adobe After Effects:

  • I have used After Effects to add the composition to the layers and to add the animation.
  • After Effects is the main software, I have used to create the backgrounds and typography and adding animation to each layer that I created by using key frames.

Finalising the video using Adobe Premiere Pro:

  • I have used Adobe Premiere Pro to finalise the video clip adjusting the speed and duration of specific parts in the main video.
  • I wanted to use blood to show rage and cruelty, I used a royalty free blood dripping effect by removing green screen in Premiere Pro.

Peer feedback (digital version):

  Comments:

  • Your animation brings your physical production to life in a simple way, your characters movement are slow and rigid, it is easy to follow and understand the story and the concept of the zine clearly.
  • You have kept a good flow throughout the video which adds to its accessibility.
  • Good use of animation and digital effects.
  • The video creates a sense of emotion.
  • May be some parts needs to move faster (when cages coming down and moving to the right).

Response/Improvement:

The feedback I received on the digital version was beneficial and helpful to get an idea how my work is impacting and making others feel. The only part I asked to improve was to change the speed and timings of a specific part and I have changed the speed duration of some parts including the one when the cage is coming down from the top and moving to the right side.

FINAL DIGITAL VERSION:

Reflection (Digital version):

  • The digital version is based on the same story-line delivered by use of animation and typography to deliver the message.
  • I feel I have used different software to create the digital versions and experimented editing techniques to create the digital version.
  • In the digital version, I have tried to make the audience uncomfortable by use of blood when animals are shown behind the cages to make them feel their pain and stress in which they are forced to live.
  • I have tried to show all the elements such as animals happiness in the start and then the sadness while they are in cages highlighting the elements of depression, sadness and agony by use of black and white imagery and how they are uncomfortable in cages by showing the animals being compressed in small cages.

FINAL EVALUATION:

  • For this module project, I feel I have worked hard and efficiently throughout the whole project and dedicated the right amount of time and massive effort for this project.
  •  I have gathered a massive amount of research, including research about zine and history, detailed research related to the topic of the zine and in-depth research into the target audience and self-reflection on research.
  • I feel researching really aided me in terms of understanding my target audience and understand more in depth about the problems that animals face and how they feel when they are taken from their homes.
  •  Throughout this project, I have developed and applied various skills that helped me to grow as an individual and as a designer. Skills such as using Adobe Photoshop for creating the illustrations of animals (happy and sad versions) , Adobe After Effects to add animation and merging all separate files together to create a video version from the physical version and Adobe Premiere pro helped in terms of applying final video effects to the After Effects digital version.
  • I am glad that both the physical and digital versions of my zines are delivering the message to a specific target audience in the form of a narrative according to the plan which I set earlier.
  • The physical version of the zine is allowing the viewer to look and feel the real atmosphere of jungle and happy faces of animals making the audience emotional at the same time, use of black paper strips to create the cages gives a real feel to the viewer rather than using the print out of cages on the page.
  • By working on the physical version, it provided me with the opportunity to experience how the book binding works and useful information including the printing, binding techniques, gutter, bleed and trim marks which I didn’t use much for my physical because I wanted to show asymmetrical and rough design style which is not perfect and accurate in terms of composition, illustrations, and layout to make the audience feel uncomfortable.
  • I feel I have tried to portray how animals are kept in small cages despite of their body size and the required space they need to live, which I feel is not possible to provide to animals in zoos because it is impossible to create a real jungle environment and space for them in zoos.
  • I have showed two different prospective of animals in two different environment which is jungle and zoos, in jungle the animals can be seen happy together and enjoying the freedom whereas in zoos, the animals can be seen deeply depressed, sad and in agony highlighted by the use of black and white colour scheme, sad face expressions and how the cages are not even close to provide them comfort which can be seen in terms of how each animal has placed uncomfortably in the cages portraying the big sizes of animals squeezed and compressed in small cages.
  • The only thing that didn’t worked for me will be the pages setup as I created hand made zine and it was hard to adjust all the pages of the same length and width but I am glad that I have managed to solve the issue by tapping the pages from the centre to keep them secure from getting detached.
  • In the digital version, I tried to be make the audience uncomfortable by using blood dripping while the animals in cages as I want to show the reality which I feel the audience need to see and feel, which will encourage them to take a bold step to stop this cruelty and abuse with animals which we, as human beings find entertaining.
  • I am glad that we have been given this project to create a zine and by selecting this topic I feel I have tried my best to portray the reality to the target audience by making a zine on such a serious topic but in an interesting way, at the same time I have used quite disturbing imagery of animals in chains in the physical version and use of blood in the digital version to make the audience uncomfortable because I want them to feel the disturbing and sad reality and to take serious step against this cruelty and abuse because I feel they have the power which they need to use.
  • If I will be given a second chance to work on this project, I will definitely try to create a real documentary video on this topic because we need to make wake the authorities and the organisations to do something and at the same time to make every human being aware of the reality to guide themselves and their kids to respect the animals and let them live their lives freely in their own environment as we are living.
